PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN) — A trained weather spotter reported a possible tornado Monday evening around 9:24 p.m. in Rockaway Beach, which the National Weather Service then confirmed as an EF-0 tornado with estimated peak winds of 85 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, the KRTX weather radar, located in Portland, showed a “fairly strong velocity couplet” in the area at the same time the tornado was reported. The tornado possibly formed within a strong thunder cell that moved through the coastline Monday evening.
