Meta Platforms plans to introduce advertisements to its social media app Threads early next year, the Information reported on Wednesday, citing three people with direct knowledge of the plans.

In its latest earnings report, Meta announced $39.8 billion in advertising revenue over the last quarter, accounting for 97 percent of its total income. During the earnings call, Meta’s CFO, Susan Li, noted that the company does not anticipate Threads becoming a “meaningful driver” of revenue by 2025.
